The Wordsmith Crafts Community
In 2025 we will be continuing to develop Cluaran and Quartz memberships. Quartz uses the arts to practice #SensingSpirituality and you can read more at www.ancient-pathways.co.uk Cluaran members focus on crafting, boats, and access to living breathing Heritage.
These are not exclusive activities! But continuing the identity of the two projects is a way to respect their distinctiveness and allow both space to flourish.

Throughout the year most people participate as guests. Whether it is a drop in activity or volunteering to help serve tea and coffee at a Heritage day for New Scots we thrive on meeting people and sharing a bit of what we do.
Supporter Membership
If you like what you see you could become a supporter!
This is the information age so your time and attention is valuable. Reading, liking and sharing posts about what we do also supports what we do!
If you are in a position to contribute in other ways this will help us do things like visit schools where small class sizes or distance from our base means we need to subsidise cost of the visit. It will also help provide activities free at point of access and encourage people to inherit their full heritage.
Other supporters are freelance crafters and historical interpreters. By joining the WSC mailing list we can get in touch with you when an opportunity to collaborate arises.

Activated members regularly take part in Wordsmith Crafts activities. To make this easier we keep more details on file – like records of safety checks – and this allows access to perks (Like access to the studio and/or storage space). It also means that if you want to get involved in activities like school visiting or getting on the water we can keep a record of training you’ve received and skills you have to offer.

Community Interest Reports
Everything is held together in Wordsmith Crafts CIC (WSC). It is the vessel which keeps everything afloat, including all the behind the scenes networking, admin, and community development needed to support the quality and often bespoke activities we deliver.
Wordsmith Crafts CIC, the parent body of Cluaran and Quartz is an asset locked Community Interest Company, but not a charity. It is registered as a company in Scotland and pays taxes. It has been set up to make heritage accessible, pay a living wage to creatives for their work, and support formal volunteering. We chose this form to build slowly from the ground up rather than rely on grants. The company is “asset locked” so there is a cap on how any individual or group can profit from it’s activities, and to check that any surplus generated is fed back into developing the community.
